A wooden Corpus Christi, probably Netherlandish, circa 1700
Carved in the round. With partially overpainted older polychromy. A figure of Christ crucified with three nails, His arms stretched widely, His head slumped to one side in death. The figure's quality can be seen especially in the naturalistically modelled body and perizonium. Sculpted blood droplets issuing from the wound in Christ's side accentuate the work's expressive character.
Visible seam between the arms and the body. Wear with losses to the fingers. Height 90 cm, width of arms 78 cm.
