Wäsche vorm Haus am Meer im Dämmerlicht, 1977-87 bereiste der Künstler mehrfach Bulgarien und hielt unter anderem die lauschigen Winkel des altehrwürdigen Sosopol an der Schwarzmeerküste fest, lasierende, partiell gering pastose Malerei mit charaktervollem Pinselduktus in zurückhaltender Farbigkeit, hierzu bemerkte der Künstler 2022 im Gespräch mit Martin Koenitz rückblickend: "... Es war nie meine Absicht, Landschaften oder Personen naturgetreu abzubilden. Für mich war die äußere Ähnlichkeit nicht entscheidend, sondern die Wesensähnlichkeit im höheren Sinne. ...", Tempera und Öl auf Hartfaserplatte, unten mittig signiert und datiert "Ratzlaff [19]96", rückseitig auf der Hartfaserplatte betitelt »SosopoI« sowie bezeichnet "1996, 500 x 650, Tempera/Öl", Provenienz: Atelier des Künstlers, im originalen Künstlerrahmen gerahmt, Falzmaße ca. 50 x 65 cm. Laundry in front of the house by the sea in the twilight, 1977-87 the artist travelled to Bulgaria several times and captured, among other things, the secluded corners of the time-honoured Sosopol on the Black Sea coast, glazed, partially slightly impasto painting with a brushstroke full of character in restrained colours, about which the artist remarked in retrospect in a conversation with Martin Koenitz in 2022: "... It was never my intention to depict landscapes or people realistically. For me, the external resemblance was not decisive, but the resemblance in a higher sense. ...", tempera and oil on hardboard, signed and dated "Ratzlaff [19]96" at the bottom centre, titled "SosopoI" and inscribed "1996, 500 x 650, Tempera/Öl" on the reverse of the hardboard, provenance: studio of the artist, framed in the original artist's frame, folded dimensions approx. 50 x 65 cm.
