Property from an Important Private Collection A Safavid calligraphic panel signed Sultan Muhammad Nur (circa 1472-circa 1536AD), Iran, first quarter of 16th century, Arabic manuscript on paper, the centre panel with two diagonal panels of 2ll. of black nasta'liq on gold, two single lines of similar running vertically to the left and two lines below, on a blue floral ground, within an outer pink border containing inscription cartouches, and further similar border in blue, the margins with lotus flowers, leaves and feline faces in gold outlined in black, mounted, glazed and framed, calligraphy 28 x 25.5cm.; folio 39 x 25cm. Another early 16th century calligraphic panel signed by Sultan Muhammad Nur is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (1982.120.4).
