Published 10th C. Byzantine Bronze Bell w/ Crosses

Near East, Holy Land, Byzantium, Middle Period, ca. 843 to 1204 CE. A beautiful, cast-leaded-bronze bell with a tapered ovoid body, a narrow shoulder, and a tiered upper platform with an integral, perforated suspension tab. Each side of the bell bears an incised cross within an ovoid laurel wreath that creates a sumptuous presentation in concurrence with the mottled green and brown patina. Size: 2.25" W x 3.2" H (5.7 cm x 8.1 cm)

Condition Report: Original clapper missing as shown. Slight bending to overall form of walls and one corner of tiered top platform, with one small perforation to side of tiered platform, otherwise intact and excellent. Wonderful patina throughout, and nice preservation to incised cross motifs.
