Published Greek 22K+ Gold Applique w/ Glass Inlay

Greek, late Classical Period, ca. 4th century BCE. A gorgeous piece of Classical craftsmanship, this is a 85% gold (equivalent to 22K+) fob featuring a central disc-like shield with a six petal rosette at its center. This rosette is inlaid with white glass or enamel, much of which still remains. It is exquisitely decorated with beaded wire around its outer edge and a band of tightly coiled spirals on the interior. Two seed-like pendants dangle below it. A modern pin mounted to the back allows it to be worn as a brooch or an earring. Size: 0.75" W (1.9 cm); 6.3 grams

Condition Report: Ancient, with a modern backing applied. Small bends and crimps in the gold surfaces. Some of the stone inlay is lost. Overall in beautiful condition.
