Loom Pulley Stirrup Senufo, west Africa (Burkina Faso - Mali) First half of the 20th century. Wood. Height: 19. 5 cm; Depth: 6 cm The top part of the pulley stirrup is carved with an anthropomorphic figure which refers to the stylistic characteristics of Senufo art. In light coloured wood, it is entirely incised with geometric motifs. It is pierced at the level of the neck, enabling its suspension.
