Purvis Young (American, 1943-2010), painting, drawing, and collage assemblage composed of layered found paper sheets, including ledger sheets and printed pages, rendered in ink, crayon, and paint and mounted within a salvaged wood frame painted green with applied block elements. The sheets depict processions and crowds of figures, a tree, gestural abstract passages, and a ballpoint pen architectural sketch in black, ochre, red, brown, violet, and blue. One sheet signed "Young" in blue pen. Verso fitted with a plywood backing and hanging wire. Provenance: Joy Moos Gallery.
Dimensions: 34 X 41 X 3 in.
Condition: Good overall vintage condition with typical age-related surface wear. Scratches, tears, rips, and stains are consistent with the artist's intended aesthetic.
