Purvis Young 1943-2010 Pen Drawing on Rusted Tin
Purvis Young (American, 1943-2010), black ballpoint pen drawing on found paper mounted to a sheet of corrugated tin, depicting a dense procession of horses and elongated, looping figures with faint touches of red and blue. Executed in an Outsider Art style on salvaged materials, with remnants of blue tape along the edges and a rusted tin verso. The artist's name is inscribed within the work at lower center. Measures 22.25" x 19.25". Provenance: Joy Moos Gallery.
Condition: Good overall vintage condition with typical age-related surface wear. Scratches, tears, and staining to the paper and rust to the tin are consistent with the artist's working method on found materials. Note: This condition statement is provided as a courtesy and reflects an opinion, not a statement of fact. Bidders are encouraged to inspect items in person or through an agent to assess condition. Estate fresh to the market.
