Putto head - Baroque - Papier mache - Early 19th century

[ translate ]

Rare winged putto head made in Lombardy in the Neoclassical period, early 18th or even late 17th century. Made of papier-mâché, red bolus and real gold leaf gilding polished with agate stone. Exceptional decoration (one out of four) , which adorned a late 18th century altar in a private chapel. Fitted merely on a wooden support so that it can be hung easily. Preserved in excellent condition. It is worth noting that the upper part of the head, since the putto was placed at the top of the altar, has not been gilded to save on gold leaf. Shipping with professional packaging.
