QIANLONG BAJIXIANG MOTIF BEGONIA VASE

Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Qianlong porcelain vase. Potted in large cylinder vessel, vase shape, having thick and tall potted body, sturdily potted in a bulbous body, ovoid belly on middle gently tapered on short neck toward opening mouth prominent, flori panels arising from the bottom, with slight flaring opening lip, and raised on flat wide round base. The exterior decorated with hand-painting in cobalt under glazed blue, depicted of ornament with scrolling ruyi and huge ribbon flanked on the shoulder. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze grayish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy.
