Qashqai Kilim
late 19th century, 260 x 150 cm, South West Persia, Fars
The field is covered in a diamond lattice of thin, red stepped lines. The tile-like compartments in diverse colours comprise a small stepped polygon and four crosses arranged around it. The weaver has chosen the ground colours of the diamonds so as to create colour diagonals. A blue frame with a small-format mosaic design surrounds the field. The border of reciprocal trefoils is typical of the provenance.
Condition
Good condition except for some minor repairs.
