Qing Chinese Mandarin Hat Finial Clear Glass Bead
A Qing mandarin’s hat finial has been repurposed as a bell. The finial has a clear glass bead with bubbles in the glass. The bell is enameled with two rose and white -colored irises with green leaves on a mottled dark blue background. The final bead is mounted in a brass mount. There is a copper flower at the top to hold the bead in place. The bell has a turquoise Peking glass clapper.
The word CHINA is stamped on the underside of the bell’s rim.
MEASUREMENTS
3 ½” (8.9 cm) tall x 2 ½” (6.4 cm) diameter. Weighs 3.7 oz (105 g)
CONDITION
There is a small rough spot in the clear glass bead by the brass mount. The enamel is a bit rough at the edge of the mouth of the bell. The metal is well-tarnished and has a nice patina.
