Qing Dynasty Fine Cast Copper Base Cloisonne Enamel Hu Man Playing with Lion Incense Burner[Specifications] Height 50cm Length 52cm Width 20cm Weight 16.5kg[Inscription] Made in Qianlong Period[Details]This incense burner is cast in the shape of a Hu man playing with a lion. The male lion has strong and agile limbs, walks forward in an alternating manner, looks back sideways, with eyes wide open, mouth open and sharp teeth showing, with a mighty and powerful momentum. The bell around the neck makes it look docile and obedient. The mane and beard are curly, spiraling like a spiral bun. The mane at the tail and legs flutters in the wind, and the carving is meticulous, with every detail visible. A Hu man sits on the back of a male lion, with a young lion on his head, looking at each other, which is very interesting. The Hu man has deep eyes and a high nose, a beard, a Ruyi-shaped hat on his head, wears Hu clothing, and wears long boots. He seems to be shouting with his mouth open, with his left hand raised high, waving and playing with the lion, full of dynamism. The incense burner is cast in two parts, with a Hu man as the lid and a lion as the body. The belly is hollow and can hold spices. When burning incense, smoke curls out. The design is ingenious and extremely rare. The Hu man is covered with royal blue enamel glaze, and the lion is covered with sky blue enamel glaze. It is decorated with various colored enamel glazes, and the colors are gorgeous. The filigree is finely made into a lotus pattern, with luxuriant branches and leaves, curling and powerful, stretching and majestic, and partially gilded decoration, with a precious luster. The use of Hu people to decorate handicrafts began in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Tang Dynasty. It then decreased, and in the middle and late Ming Dynasty, with the recovery of Sino-Western trade, the image of Hu people began to appear again. The Hu people's offering of treasures is a true reflection of the prosperity of society at that time and the coming of all nations, implying a strong national strength and peace in the world.
