Queen Elizabeth II Autograph Letter Signed on Christmas Shopping and a Happy Family Christmas at Sandringham (1997)
"We had a very happy family Christmas here, with the ages ranging from 96 through to only 5 months – so there was much fun and laughter"
ALS signed “Elizabeth R.,” one page both sides, 5.75 x 8.25, Sandringham, Norfolk letterhead, January 2, 1997. Handwritten letter to Peter Knight, the owner of Peter Knight Furnishing, a premium furniture business formerly located at 5 High Street, Esher, Surrey, in full: “Thank you very much for giving me the photograph frame that I had picked and in the correct size. It was a very kind Christmas present and will be in constant use. The shop was again a great help to my Christmas shopping list, and I am most grateful to you. We had a very happy family Christmas here, with the ages ranging from 96 through to only 5 months – so there was much fun and laughter. Now it is so cold here that Siberia could have moved closer. Ice and snow and a biting wind from the east! Thank you again.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in the hand of Queen Elizabeth II, who incorporates her initials opposite her stamp in the lower left, “ER.” The oldest and youngest family members mentioned were presumably the 96-year-old Queen Mother and Lady Sarah Chatto’s son Samuel, born in July 1996.
