Queen Signed 1977 European Summer Tour Program

[ translate ]

Original program for Queenâ€â„¢s 1977 European Summer Tour, 20 pages, 11.25 x 11.25, signed on the front cover in black ballpoint by Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, John Deacon, and Brian May. The consignor notes that the autographs were obtained at the Hippodrome Theatre in Bristol, England on either May 23 or 24, 1977. In fine condition, with faint edge toning.

Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks, and by a letter of provenance from the original recipient, which reads: â€Å“I bought this programme when I went to see Queen perform at The Bristol Hippodrome on either the 23rd or 24th May 1977â€Â¦I went with a friend and work colleague, John, as we left the venue we walked past the end of Denmark Street (which runs down the side of the Hippodrome) when we noticed a group of people around the stage door. A few moments later all the members of Queen came out and ran across the street to a restaurant called Harveyâ€â„¢s, which was part of the famous Harveyâ€â„¢s Bristol Cream sherry company. The restaurant is still there but is now called Harveyâ€â„¢s Cellars.

â€Å“We decided to wait for a while to see if weâ€â„¢d get a chance to meet them, at this point there were about 50-60 of us. Time went by and eventually people started to drift away leaving just a hard core of about a dozen of us. After about an hour and a half one of the restaurantâ€â„¢s waiters came out of the main doors where we were congregated and said he would take our tour programmes and posters etc. down to the band for them to be signed, we passed over our items and he informed us that they had all ordered Beef Wellington from the menu, obviously before Brian went vegetarian!

â€Å“After another wait of about 15 minutes he returned with our signed items. A short time after this some very nice cars arrived and the band left the restaurant. Freddie walked straight past everyone and got into one of the cars, Brian stopped very briefly to say hello, shake a few hands and thanked us for waiting so long (probably about two hours) before getting into his car. I donâ€â„¢t remember seeing Roger or John but I was more keen to talk to Brian as I also play guitar, I assume they got into another car further down the street, and just like that they were gone but at least we had our treasured signed items and a story to tell.â€Â
