R. Eaton & Son, St. Marys 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jug

St. Marys, Ontario. 1880s. Salt-glazed stoneware. Robert Eaton (older brother of Timothy, founder of Eaton's department store) owned a grocery and dry goods business in St. Marys from the early 1860s until 1890. From 1872 onward it was located at 147 Queen St. E. This jug is a great piece of history from one of St. Mary's most famous families. Stamped, "R. Eaton & Son / Groceries / Crockery & Glassware / St. Marys Ont". 9.25" x 5.75" x 6" From the Late Mike O'Hara Collection.
