A finely potted famille-rose porcelain cup, its gently rounded sides decorated with swallows in flight among flowering plum branches. Pink blossoms, dark branchwork and restrained gilding form a continuous composition around the vessel, while gilt bands at the rim and foot sharpen the elegant profile against the luminous white porcelain body.
The base bears an underglaze-blue six-character Guangxu reign mark. Plum blossom, among the first flowers to appear at the approach of spring, is a long-established emblem of resilience and renewal in Chinese art; combined with birds in flight, it gives the decoration a lively seasonal character. The thin potting, delicate enamels and balanced ornament lend the cup a refined late-Qing appearance.
