R. Joyce/Pilkington Vase

An Early 20th Century Art Pottery Covered Jar by Richard Joyce for Pilkington. Having an Asian inspired covered ginger jar shape, the vessel is covered overall with a deep rose and olive lustre and decorated with Heraldic imagery, including lions along shields that enclose figures, one of a ram and the other of two boars, with a brilliant blue glaze at the interior. Underside contains artist's monogram and impressed markings including "2971" maker's trademark, "Royal Lancastrian" and "Made in England". Very minor wear overall. 8 1/2 x 9 1/4" high.
