RABBI AVRAHAM ELYASHIV (ca. 1877-1943) OF GOMEL AND JERUSALEM, LETTER TO RABBI TZVI HIRSH FERBER (1879-1966) OF LONDON .

In his letter to Rabbi Ferber, Rabbi Elyashiv thanks him for sending him his book Kerem Hatzvi and praises its content.

Rabbi Avraham Elyashiv, learnt at the Radin Yeshiva and married a daughter of the famous Lithuanian gaon and kabbalist Rabbi Shlomo Elyashiv – author of Leshem Shevo V’achlama. Father of leading contemporary halachic authority Rabbi Yosef Shlomo Elyashiv. Served as Rabbi of Gomel (Homel) for a short period, before settling in Jerusalem, together with his father-in-law. Founder of Tiferes Bachurim in Jerusalem and publisher of his father-in-law’s Kabbalistic works. Author of Bikurei Avraham and Hilchos Beis Hakneses U’Beis Hamedrash.

Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh Ferber was born in Lithuania and studied under Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan Spektor of Kovno, Rabbi Yitzchak Blazer and Rabbi Naftali Amsterdam. He was a leading rabbinical scholar and leader in London, heading an independent community in the West End and heading the Hisachdus Horabonim in England. First Rosh Yeshiva of Manchester Yeshiva and later heading the Etz Chayim Yeshiva in London. Talented speaker and author of 14 rabbinic works, including Kerem Hatzvi.
