Rabbi Shlomo Halberstam, leading post-WWII chassidic leader, was the third rebbe of the Bobov chassidic dynasty, and was responsible for its rebuilding after the destruction of the Holocaust. Rabbi Shlomo was a son of Rabbi Benzion Halberstam of Bobov (Galicia – Poland), and son-in-law of 1. Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Teitelbaum of Limanov (his uncle) and 2. Rabbi Aryeh Leibish Rubin of Tomashov – Chieshanov. Appointed as Rabbi of Bobov in 1931, when his father moved to Chebin (Tzerbinia). Assistant to his father in leadership of Bobov chassidim and in running its Yeshivos in ca. 30 towns and villages in Galicia. Miraculously survived WWII; escaped Poland and was involved in rescue and relief activities through obtaining false documents for Jews. After WWII settled in US, where he established a new vibrant and successful chassidic centre for surviving Bobover chassidim and others.
