RABBI YITZCHAK FRIEDMAN (1903-1992), REBBE OF BOHUSH – HACHNASATH KALLA APPEAL, COUNTERSIGNED BY RABBI YISRAEL AVRAHAM PORTUGAL (1923-2018) OF SKULENY .

Appeal to the community to assist Rabbi Shalom Shmuel Siegler, Rabbi of Shechunath Hapoalim – Kiriat Herzog with wedding expenses, and wishing blessings of wealth and success to all who respond.

The letter is written on the official stationery of the Bohusher Rebbe by one of his attendants, and with his signature. It is countersigned by the Rebbe of skuleny.

Rabbi Yitzchak Friedman of Bohush, son of Rabbi Shalom Yosef of Shpikov – Bohush and son-in-law of his uncle Rabbi Mendel of Bohush. Succeeded his father in 1920 and moved to Bucharest in 1930. Opened his home to large numbers of refugees during WWII, endangering himself in the process. Settled in Tel Aviv in 1951 and moved to Bnei Brak in 1987. He was greatly respected for his outstanding Ahavas Yisrael.

Rabbi Yisrael Avraham Portugal, son of Rabbi Eliezer Zusia, Rabbi and chassidic Rebbe of Skuleny. Disciple of Rabbi Eliezer Hager at the Yeshiva of Vizhnitz. Imprisoned together with his father for their relief efforts and the religious rehabilitation of large numbers of WWII Jewish orphans in communist Romania. Left Romania in 1960 after international intervention on their behalf and settled in New York. Rabbi Yisrael Avraham succeeded his father in 1980 and became one of the most respected contemporary chassidic leaders. He was greatly revered for his saintly character and lifestyle and famous for his inspiring songs and effective blessings, and for his activity to raise awareness of the spiritual dangers of computer technology.
