Rabbi Yosef – Guenz Schlesinger (1790-1871), son of Rabbi Simcha Bunem Eger – Guenz of Mattersdorf (brother of Rabbi Akiva Eger) and step-son-in-law of Rabbi Moshe Sofer of Pressburg – the Chassam Sofer. Lived in Pressburg and published the Chassam Sofer’s responsa, before establishing his publishing house in Vienna, which gradually expanded to become an international concern specialising in the publication of Hebrew prayers in accordance with a large variety of rites and customs.
