Dye transfer print from Polaroid T665 P/N negative, c. 40 x 30 cm, in excellent condition. Signed, titled and dated as well as former Polaroid Coll. no. "85:1945:01" in pencil on the reverse.
After training as a typesetter, Rainer Griese studied free photography at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, where he also worked as a lecturer after graduating. Still lifes and photographs with the 20x24-inch Polaroid camera are an important part of his work, as can be seen on his website. These bear witness not only to his skill in lighting, set arrangement and photographic realisation, but also to his sense of the subtly bizarre, in the far-reaching tradition of surrealism.

Nach einer Ausbildung zum Schriftsetzer studierte Rainer Griese freie Fotografie an der Fachhochschule Köln und war nach dem Studium auch als Lehrbeauftragter dort tätig. Stillleben und Aufnahmen mit der 20x24-inch Polaroidkamera sind, wie auf seiner Website ersichtlich, ein wichtiger Teil seines Schaffens. Diese zeugen nicht nur von seinem Können in der Lichtführung, im Set-Arrangement und in der fototechnischen Umsetzung, sondern auch von seinem Sinn für das Subtil-Skurrile, der in der weitläufigen Tradition des Surrealismus steht.
