RARE DATED 1660 EARLY BAND SAMPLER W/ CUT & DRAWN-WORK
17th century English band sampler dated 1660
This early sampler is profuse with intricate stitching techniques. At the top are typical very finely stitched motifs and an alphabet followed with several bands of white-work, bands of drawn-work, bands of cut and drawn-work, and at the bottom is an white-work queen stitch alphabet ending with the date 1660.
Silk on linen; 30” x 11” framed.
The condition is excellent, note one lightly stained spot on the left side 1/3 down from the top.
