RARE EARLY AMERICAN FEDERAL SILKWORK "PEACE"

"Peace after Revolution". Depicts Peace standing in front of the broken implements of war: The New York Battery with peaceful commerce behind her. Fine still life surround with extremely fine silk embroidery with a few painted details. Old explanation label verso. Dates to circa 1790. Dimensions: Frame: H 18" x W 15.5" Sight: H 16" x W 13.5" Condition: Colors bright, spots of age toning, a few small losses to silk background. Silk off of the original wooden stretcher, leading to wrinkling in the frame.
