RARE LITHOGRAPH OF HUNNEMAN BOSTON PUMPER FIRE ENGINE
A hand colored and gilt lithograph by L.H. Bradford & Co. of Boston, depicting an early hand-drawn pumper fire engine by Hunneman & Co. Builders, Boston, Mass. Housed in a modern gold molded frame, green mat, under glass, OS: 28 3/4" x 39 1/2", SS: 18 1/2" x 29 1/2". Toned, water stained, paint smear.
Per the Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting Apparatus: "William Hunneman was an apprentice of Paul Revere, as the copper work of the engine's air chamber demonstrates. He began making engines in 1790, and his firm built over 800 hand pumpers during the next 83 years - more than any other maker."
These prints were distributed to the firehouses by the manufacturer. PROVENANCE: From a life-long private collection.
