RARE RUSSIAN NICHOLAS II COLOR LITHOGRAPH POSTER, ST. PETERSBURG 1900. Comprising an exceedingly rare color lithograph poster designed by Vasili Karlovich Zal (1871-1919) and printed in St. Petersburg. At center of the poster within a faux gilt frame with imperial crown finial is depicted a full length image of the newly crowned emperor Nicholas II with scepter in hand and above the date 1896, the year of his coronation. This central image further surrounded by 14 additional images of Nicholas at various stages of his life each with corresponding dates beginning at top center as a child and dated 1872 and concluding at upper left with the date 1899. Each successive image of the Tsar depicts him in various uniforms, ranks and with various awards as they were presented to him as he progressed through life. At lower right is the signature of the artist "V. Zal" and the date 1899. On the lower outer left edge (outside image) is printed in Russian "Permitted by censorship St. Petersburg 26 January 1900." A rare heretofore unknown image. 26.6 inches x 20.25 inches (67.5 x 51.5 cm).
