RARE SCANDINAVIAN BRONZE SWORD
Middle Bronze Age, Ca. 1600 - 1200 BC.
A Scandinavian double edged blade, slightly widening in the middle, and tapering towards the tip. Pronounced central ridge, with narrow decorative lines, going along. Handle casted in one piece, with openwork grip, decorated with diagonal lines, riveted to the blade with four bronze rivets. Round guard, in shape, characteristic only to Nordic bronze swords, is decorated with geometric motifs and has four rivets, holding the blade. Flat rhombic pommel, decorated with diagonal lines on the lower part and circles on the top. Cone top in the centre of the pommel. For similar see, Helmut Ottenjan.
