RARE SELJUK BRONZE LIDED BOX
Ca.1200 AD.Medieval Middle East, Turkey / Persia, Seljuk Empire (sometimes Seljuq), A beautiful cast bronze lidded vessel, featuring a cylindrical body with ornate repousse motifs encircling it - geometric forms, organized around repeated triangles of different sizes and orientations. The lid is domed, with a spherical finial and similar repousse decoration. Two leaf-shaped openwork handles and three loops for suspension adorn the sides. Time has given this piece a lovely patina.Good condition; Size:110mmx83mm;329g; Provenance: Important estate collection from London; formed in the 1970s-2000.
