'RED LOTUS', QING DYNASTY

China, 1644-1912. Ink and watercolors on paper, matted and framed between two sheets of glass. Finely painted with a lotus blossom swaying in the wind above a large furled leaf with nibbles and small holes to the edges, a closed bud below, the stems finely detailed with small dots.

Inscriptions: Center left, 'painted in the school of Wuquan Mountain', and inscribed with a poem about lotus. Two seals, one reading 'lian'.

Provenance: From a private estate in Germany. The reverse with an old collector's number, '23'.
Condition: Good condition with old wear, soiling, creasing, minor losses, small tears to edges.
