Signed Fuchang Ren Xun, dated gengchen (1880), the eleventh lunar month, with one seal of the artist, ren xun. Provenance: Sotheby's New York: Thursday, September 13, 2018 Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy; Estate of Jack Faxon, Michigan Senator and creator of the Michigan Council for the Arts.
Condition: Having a few specks of pale foxing. Areas of skillful restoration (most notably a repaired tear along the left sheet edge extending into the image, approx. L 3"). Soft creasing to the scroll. Some areas of minor rubbing in the upper right quadrant. Minor surface soiling to the silk scroll and some time staining. Otherwise no visible abrasions.
