Provenance
Ren Zhenhan, was a native of Guangzhou, and moved to Taipei with his father when he was a child and studied painting with famous Taiwanese painter Cai Xuexi (1884-?). He studied art in Guangzhou and Kyoto after 1925 and then returned to Guangzhou to teach oil painting in 1932. He transitioned to ink painting when he settled in Hong Kong during the Second Sino-Japanese War. At the same time, he was the head of the Gengzi Painting Society, with the purpose of inheriting and innovating Chinese painting.
