Nowak is known for her large-format photographic works, tableaux vivants, for which she artistically stages her models outdoors or in the studio. In her "Artist in the City" series, she photographed artists working in Vienna, such as Peter Kogler, Marcus Schinwald and Eva Schlegel. These were taken at specifically selected locations, so that the resulting scenarios are reminiscent of the art of the sitters in terms of color palette, spatial design or lighting mood.

Nowak ist für ihre großformatigen Fotoarbeiten bekannt, Tableaux Vivants, für die sie ihre Modelle im Außenraum oder im Studio kunstvoll inszeniert. In ihrer Serie "Artist in the City" fotografierte sie in Wien arbeitende Kunstschaffende, etwa Peter Kogler, Marcus Schinwald oder Eva Schlegel. Diese wurden an spezifisch ausgewählten Orten aufgenommen, sodass die entstehenden Szenarios in der Farbpalette, oder in der Raumgestaltung und Lichtstimmung an die Kunst der Porträtierten erinnern.
