Title: ROCKET TO THE MOON (One-shot)
Place Published:
Publisher:Avon [Indicia: Avon Periodicals, Inc.]
Date Published: 1951
Description:

CGC certified: Good (2.0). Cream to off-white pages. Joe Orlando cover. Stories and art by Joe Orlando, Walter Gibson. GPAnalysis: No recorded sales in this grade in 7 years. A 2.5 sold for $232 in August 2020.

This mag was pencilled and inked by Joe Orlando while he shared a studio with Wally Wood, whom he often assisted, and Wood's influence is present throughout. The script is by pulp powerhouse Walter Gibson, the creator of the Shadow, and it's been called "one of his most unusual efforts in comics" by Bleeding Cool's Mark Seifert due to its positioning of Red China as America's space rival, rather than the Soviet Union.

A limited edition of 150 softcover and 15 hardcover catalogues is available. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $30, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Ten of the 15 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now. To order, contact ivan@pbagalleries.com.

Consignments welcome for PBA's December 2021 Comic Book sale. Top prices for Pre-Code Horror, Golden Age, Silver Age, original art and ephemera. Send inquiries to ivan@pbagalleries.com.
