Notes:

Roland Roure has been exhibiting his sculptures since 1974, he became known for the spectacular exhibition "La Crèche animéer de Roland Roure", in "Musée des Arts Décoratifs" in Paris.

Defining himself as ‘a builder of ludic machines, putting into play noise, colour, fireworks, wind and water’, his sculptures revive an entire tradition of folk art. His subjects are tightrope walkers, mythological heroes, fishermen, but can also be reclining ladies reading, women with children or couples entwined. With his imaginative mind he makes (moving) objects and installations of metal, sheet steel and wood, intended to make them come to life, just like in fairy tales. These sculptures, after touching the metal wire, they magically light up.

Roland Roure has also created sets for ballet and opera at the Théâtre du Chatelet, the Péniche Opéra and the Centre de recherche de l’Opéra de Paris.

This lamp has a very unpolished finish which adds to the folk-artness of it. Because of this, in several places it has a slightly crude finish.

The plaster filler used to fix the pierced tin shade is visible at the top of the shaft.

There are multiple holes in the tin shade.

There is a crack to the wooden base, the limed paint effect is also slightly thin in parts.
