ROMAN CARNELIAN INTAGLIO WITH GRASSHOPPER IN SILVER RING

Ca. AD 1 - 300. A carnelian intaglio engraved with a grasshopper in profile, with long antennae, folded legs and a segmented body. The intaglio is set in a possibly later silver ring with a flat-section hoop expanding to an oval bezel.
