ROMAN CARNELIAN INTAGLIO WITH RAMPANT LION IN SILVER RING

Ca. AD 300 . A carnelian intaglio engraved with a rampant lion on a groundline, with raised forelegs, a long tail and open jaws. The intaglio is set in a possibly later silver ring with a hoop decorated with angled notches, voluted shoulders and a circular bezel.
