The intaglio is set in a high carat (21 ct), possibly later gold ring with the hoop expanding at the shoulders to create triangular-shaped openings supporting the bezel cell. For similar see: El Legado de Hefesto n. 431. This piece has undergone X-ray fluorescence analysis to confirm the metallurgical content suggesting its ancient origin and lack of modern trace elements.
