Ca.100-300 AD. A gold ring with a D-shaped tapering shank; oval bezel set with a dome-shaped cameo with a high relief of Hercules and the Nemean Lion. The Nemean lion was a vicious monster in Greek mythology that lived at Nemea and was eventually killed by Heracles. According to the myth, It could not be killed with mortals' weapons because its golden fur was impervious to attack. Good condition; wearable; Reference for Roman Rings: Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L.
