ROMAN GOLD CAMEO RING - HERCULES AND THE NEMEAN LION

Ca.100-300 AD. A gold ring with a D-shaped tapering shank; oval bezel set with a dome-shaped cameo with a high relief of Hercules and the Nemean Lion. The Nemean lion was a vicious monster in Greek mythology that lived at Nemea and was eventually killed by Heracles.
