ROMAN GOLD RING WITH CAMEO OF A GORGON

A Roman 21 ct gold ring with a turquoise faience cameo shaped like a gorgon head. The curls fall across the forehead while the face is depicted wide with the mouth open and the tongue out. The hoop is composed of a flat section expanding at the shoulders, with adorned fleur de lis motif joining the shoulders to the bezil. For similar see: El Legado de Hefesto n. 271. This piece has undergone X-ray fluorescence analysis to confirm the metallurgical content suggesting its ancient origin and lack of modern trace elements. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
