ROMAN TERRACOTTA OIL LAMP WITH A KRATER

A moulded redware oil lamp, an example of the Hayes II A type. The lamp features a small krater in a recessed tondo, a lug handle, and shoulder embellishments. The use of mould-made designs such as this one allowed for standardization and mass production of oil lamps throughout the Roman Imperial period.
