ROOKWOOD SCENIC VELLUM VASE - DIERS

Vellum glaze scenic vase with trees beneath a peach colored sky, the work of Ed Diers in 1920. Marks include the Rookwood logo, date, shape 915E, an impressed V for Vellum and Mr. Diers’ incised monogram. There is fine overall crazing. Height is 6 1/4 inches. PROVENANCE: A Charleston SC Private Estate. Ed Diers was an artist at Rookwood from 1896 to 1931. He was educated at the Ohio Mechanics Institute, Industrial Art School and the Cincinnati Art Academy. He is well known for his particular skill in executing landscapes on the Rookwood pieces he decorated.
