ROOSEVELT, THEODORE
Two typed letters signed to Judge Alphonso T. Clearwater, the latter as President. The first New York: 22 November 1898. Single page typed letter signed "T. Roosevelt" on one sheet of Republican State Committee stationery, 11 x 8 1/2 inches (28 x 22 cm), lightly toned, a few small spots of dampstain to left margin; The second Oyster Bay: 14 July 1904. Single page typed letter signed in full "Theodore Roosevelt" on one folded sheet of "White House/Washington" stationery, marked "Personal", somewhat soiled and handled, with a bleed to the signature.

In Roosevelt's first letter here to Judge Clearwater of Kingston, he thanks him for his "words of congratulations" on his recent election as State Governor. In the second letter, Roosevelt, now inaugurated President, writes Clearwater on White House stationery from his home at Oyster Bay to thank him for sending "a mighty nice editorial" written by Samuel D. Coykendall.
