ROSENTHAL "Dachshund Peeing" 1950–1960 Selb-Plößberg. Design: Prof. Theodor Kärner (1884–1966), model number 1129. Porcelain, fine underglaze painting in shades of brown and beige, decorated, glazed. On the underside, a green underglaze stamp reading “Rosenthal / SELB-PLÖSSBERG / BAVARIA - GERMANY,” a handwritten addition “hand-painted” in black, a deeply embossed model number “1129,” and the artist’s name incised “PROF. T. KÄRNER.” Dimensions: Height approx. 24 cm. An upright dachshund sitting on its hind legs and striking a standing pose, with an attentive gaze directed forward and characteristically angled front paws. This sculptural work captivates with Theodor Kärner’s masterful depiction of the animal’s essence and fine anatomical details, typical of his style. The nuanced, hand-painted underglaze decoration brings the hunting dog’s glossy coat to life. Undamaged, in very good condition with minimal age-related wear on the base.
