ROSS VIRGIL: (1907-1996) American cartoonist and animator, best known for his collaboration with Friz Freleng and for animating many of the Warner Bros. cartoons, particularly those featuring Bugs Bunny. A good original graphite and coloured pencils drawing executed and signed by Virgil Ross, one page (animation peg hole paper), oblong folio (approximately 27 x 32 cm), n.p., n.d. (1990s). The drawing depicts Daffy Duck smoking a cigarette and posing as Sgt. Joe Monday alongside Porky Pig, posing as Det. Schmoe Tuesday, in costumes similar to those seen in the Warner Bros. Merry Melodies cartoon Rocket Squad (1956) in which Daffy Duck and Porky Pig portray futuristic space cops who patrol the Milky Way Galaxy. Signed by Ross in pencil with his name alone to the base. VG
