Castagna was at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show with a stand rich with 3 One-Off proposals based on Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Maserati. Rossellini was the project for a super sports “barchetta” produced on the mechanics of a 550 Maranello revised in the power and the positioning of the front radiators derived from the model GT that was recently presented.
The name was a tribute to the famous great film director and his great passion for custom-built Ferraris. The style of the front and sides was clearly inspired by the special model ordered on 375 MM mechanics in 1954. Neither Coupe nor Cabriolet: the lines designed by Gioacchino Acampora defined a modern street “barchetta” with a removable glass and carbon roof that allowed a unique driving experience. This 1: 1 scale model was complemented by special glass principally designed for the model ordered. The model was updated with the widening of the track and the evolution of the style of the sides for a second example called Aria.
