Glazed stoneware with central portrait. Stamped ROYAL DOULTON.
An exemplary Art Nouveau Royal Doulton Rembrandt Ware vase, with a central portrait styled after Thomas Howard (1473-1554), 3rd Duke of Norfolk, a prominent English politician of the Tudor era and uncle of two Henry VIII's queens, Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, both of whom were beheaded. Deep brown glaze with gold, green and russet accents, and a scrolling quote, TIME REVEALS ALL THINGS, inspired by the French Renaissance writer, physician, humanist, monk and scholar Francois Rabelais (c. 1483-1553). Stamped to base ROYAL DOULTON ENGLAND.
