RUSSIAN FOLDING SKLADEN TRAVEL ICON W SILVER RIZA

A Russian Orthodox miniature three-panel folding icon, or skladen. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. The icons are enclosed in a silver riza or oklad with repousse work. The icons are Mother of God with Baby Jesus, Chirst Almighty, and Saint Nicholas. The pink velvet case of the skladen is decorated with a silver cross on the front and has a silver clasp. Hallmark 84 silver standard and makers marks are on the bottom of each icon.
