Lev Samoilovich Bakst, Russian, 1866 to 1924, hand colored lithograph on paper, a sketch of the Faun's costume for Vaslav Nijinsky for the ballet Afternoon of a Faun the cover of the program for the Seventh Season of the Russian Ballet. It was first performed in the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris on 29 May 1912. Circa 1946. Printed in Paris in very limited edition. Signed in the print lower right. Titled in French upper right. Framed. Lev Bakst, an artist, set designer, illustrator and designer, worked mainly in St. Petersburg and Paris, one of the trendsetters of European fashion for exoticism and orientalism at the beginning of the 20th century. Vaslav Nijinsky, Russian, 1889 or 1890 to 1950, was a ballet dancer and choreographer cited as the greatest male dancer of the early 20th century. Graphic art prints and collectibles.
