RUSSIAN ORTHODOX JOY OF ALL WHO SORROW ICON PAINTING, polychrome-painted surface with yellowish-brown background on wood board, large central scene featuring Mary, Mother of God flanked by numerous male Saints/figures and some winged angels, and with a vignette at top showing a small Christ Pantocrator view in the clouds above; hand-painted black Cyrillic writing throughout and additional Cyrillic script inked at the rear. Probably Russian. 19th century. 8 3/4" x 10 1/2" OA.

Condition Report: Remarkably near-perfect condition with minor discoloration and a yellowed varnish coating across the surface and some minute chipping/flaking to edges. Board drilled verso with modern wall-hanging hook.
